The Original Avanti House
and Museum
The Avanti House, a guest house and mini museum located in South Bend, Indiana, was built in 1921 as a family home but, after extensive renovations, became a guest house in 2013. It features six guest rooms, three full bathrooms, and five half bathrooms! The old woodwork and character is not only intact but highlighted throughout the home. The home is decorated in an Avanti car theme and rooms are named after the various factory owners. A tv room, sunroom, and a neat spiral staircase were added in 2017. Guests also enjoy the large dining room, living room, and a well preserved kitchen.
Avanti House Number Two
Just as great as the original
The Avanti house number two gets its name from the original Avanti house around the corner. That popular guest house was recreated in this 1890 victorian style home when it was renovated in 2019. The 1800s character was preserved making this house comfortable and unique. It features five guest rooms, one owner suite, five full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms! Avanti two, like its predecessor, is decorated with an Avanti car theme and rooms are named after Studebaker models and factory locations. Guests also enjoy the antiques and memorabilia in the living and dining rooms while the shared kitchen space serves its function as a space to prepare simple meals.
Booking Policies
CHECK-IN/ CHECK-OUT HOURS
We offer self check-in (after 3pm) and self check-out (prior to noon). The door code will be sent to you prior to your stay, along with other information about the house and room.
You have as much privacy or interaction as you wish. Although we love meeting new people, sometimes guests come and go with little or no interaction at all.
HOUSE RULES
-Quiet hours 10pm-9am
-Label your food and take any unused food with you.
-No parties or events.
-Clean up after yourself in the shower, kitchen, and other common areas.
-NO smoking or drugs anywhere on the property
-The home is not suitable for small children
-NO pets
-For single room bookings, there is a 2 guest maximum. Additional guests are not allowed without express written permission. All guests must be specified prior to arrival. Failure to do so will result in reservation termination or an additional unregistered guest fee of $25. Whole house bookings follow the same policy with a 16 guest maximum.
